How to Increase Weight Loss Results by Kirkland Personal Trainer

So, here’s the skinny! If you want to lose weight fast, decrease your cancer risk, oxygenate your whole body, build a strong heart, and increase your lung capacity… CARDIO is key. With that said, traditional cardio like running on a treadmill for an hour or going for a long bike ride isn’t going to get you there, at least not any time soon.

The American Heart Association also recommends we have 45 minutes of cardio a day, but for most of us that might not be realistic and really isn’t necessary.

Thankfully, there is a workout method called HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT). HIIT has been used by tri-athletes, runners, actors and pro-athletes for years to improve lung capacity and stimulate muscle growth quickly and effectively, but it’s also the best and most effective way for the rest of us to lose weight and get toned in the fastest and safest way possible.

Here’s how it works:

HIIT involves doing rapid bouts of all out exercise followed by short rest periods. A workout like this can be done with or without weights and can involve running, cycling, push-ups, jumping, squatting, and everything in between. So, in just 20-30 minutes, HITT burns fat, builds muscle, makes you sweat, and ups your adrenalin to keep you feeling great (and burning calories) for hours after your workout! Because there are so many ways to keep this type of exercise interesting, like making a game of it and racing between light posts or against a friend, you’ll be done and feeling great before you know it.

At my Personal Training studio in Kirkland, I recommend and use HIIT with most of my clients because it:

  • Burns stored fat 50% more effectively than traditional cardio
  • Increases strength and endurance
  • Keeps your body burning more calories throughout the day
  • Requires little time (only 20-30 minutes)
  • Can be done anywhere (gym, park, beach, training studio)
  • Keeps your energy levels high throughout day
