Healthy Recipe Substitutions from Your Kirkland Personal Trainer

I talked a little bit about this in a previous post but here are 3 more recipe substitutions that can keep you looking great while eating great tasting food. My favorites:

  • Black Beans for flour: Sounds like a bad idea, but it’s’ great for dense, flavorful recipes like brownies…and increases the protein and fiber you’ll get too!
  • Unsweetened apple sauce for oil or butter: This has got to be my favorite. Great way to decrease the fat in your baked goods without sacrificing any of the flavor or texture. My wife makes the BEST banana bread with applesauce instead of oil
  • Avocado puree for butter: I had never thought of this before, but makes sense. It’s all fat right? You can use it in frosting too!
