Building Your Fitness Support System – Who You Need On Your Team

If you want to see great success with your workout program and diet plan, it’s important that you have a good support system in place.

That said, who you have on this support team is also important. While you may not have the option of being choosy, if you do have a number of individuals you can get involved, you can position yourself for success.

A Good Personal Trainer

First, try and find a good personal trainer to help you reach your goals. You don’t necessary have to workout with them each and every session, but checking in with them every month or so is a good plan to help keep yourself on track.

Realize that even if you are experienced in fitness and training, having another set of eyes evaluating what you’re doing can be very beneficial.


A Mentor/Role Model

It’s also a good idea to find a mentor or role model – someone that you look up to. This person will help inspire you and increase your overall effort level as you strive to reach success.

You may not always be able to talk to this individual in person, but simply seeing them, reading about them on social media, or otherwise can prove to be very helpful in keeping your motivation levels up.

In some cases, this person may also be your personal trainer or another person in your workout class.


An Accountability Partner

Having an accountability partner is the next person you want on your support team. This person should be someone that you trust completely and feel comfortable sharing anything with.

Your significant other, a close friend, or a co-worker work great here. Their job is to check in with you and see how you’re doing as well as be there for you to vent when frustrated.

Finally, the last person that you’ll want to get on your support team is your workout partner. This could be an existing friend you bring with you to your workout or someone new you meet in a group workout. Having a workout buddy is another great way to keep yourself accountable because when you know they’re waiting on you to show up, you’ll think twice about skipping sessions.

In addition to this, having them there to spot you and cheer you on during your workout session can also help you push harder, seeing faster results.
